Jackson State University
Jackson State University was founded in 1877 in Jackson, Mississippi. It is historically a Black university and ranks among the largest HBCUs in the United States. The university has an acceptance rate of ninety percent and currently enrolls around seven thousand students, with five thousand being undergraduates. Regrettably, it has faced negative press over time due to actions by faculty and students alike. Additionally, the university struggles with a graduation rate of only forty-three percent, while the average student’s tuition cost after financial aid amounts to approximately eighteen thousand dollars.
