The University of the Southwest
The University of the Southwest, founded in 1962 in Hobbs, New Mexico, enrolls over one thousand students with an acceptance rate of forty-five percent. Unfortunately, its graduation rate stands at a dismal twenty percent, leaving eighty-four percent of students burdened with an average debt of twenty-three thousand dollars upon dropping out. For poor students, attending this university seems even riskier, given the overwhelming odds against their success.
